Description
AS&M has an exciting opportunity for a Small Construction Project Coordinator to join the IDIQ & Construction Services Directorate to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. The Small Construction Project Coordinator reports directly to the Program Manager. All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism. All safety policies and procedures must be followed.
Responsibilities
Demonstrates the ability to coordinate construction projects from the initial request phase to the completion and close out phase including planning and estimating, coordinating subcontractors, awarding contracts, minor construction management, on site verification, tracking of schedule and costs, constant communication with the customer and ability to close out a project finalizing all of the necessary deliverables
Able to create an independent construction estimate using tools such as RSMeans Construction Cost Data
Must have the ability to read engineered drawings and specifications to identify scope of projects
Able to help in the development of drawings and specifications for construction projects
Must be proficient user of MS Word, Excel, Project, and Power Point
Must be able to create business letters, correspondence and reports in final form, using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, form, etc.,
Knowledge of project management principles, practices, methods, and techniques
Skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships and ability for decision-making
Must be self-directed in order to coordinate numerous projects on time, all at varying project phases, with little oversight
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship required.
Qualifications
Two (2) years of college with courses in engineering or associated disciplines, and six (6) years of related experience preferred. Additional relevant education or construction project management experience may be substituted for any equivalent combination of education/experience for a total of eight (8) years. Position requires comprehensive knowledge of programs gained through long and varied work experience in field of specialty.
Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and written with effective use of visual aids.
Ability to use computing technology for problem analysis and solution.
Experience in building and/or systems construction, management and construction cost estimating preferred.
Position requires comprehensive knowledge of construction trades with an emphasis on Mechanical/HVAC
Working proficiency with computer aided drafting software such as AutoCAD, and computerized maintenance management systems such as MAXIMO are a plus
Work Environment
Office environment. (65%) Test facilities and active construction site environment - loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation. (35%) Travel between office and various facilities is required (<5%).
Physical Requirements
Limited time spent on active construction sites. Must be physically capable of walking and climbing over rough terrain and working at elevated heights and confined spaces. Construction sites are commonly areas of high noise levels due to construction equipment and facility test operations. (35%) Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs.
